Bonjour Soleil, Bonsoir Lune is a series of artistic workshops designed by visual artist Sophie Grassart for children aged 2 to 5 from the Les Écureuils daycare center and the Clément Rebuffel leisure center in Mougins during the February and April school holidays.
Over the course of two weeks, the children took part in two workshop cycles: the first, “Bonjour Soleil” focused on the luminous phenomena of daytime through explorations of transparency, reflections, and vivid colors; the second, “Bonsoir Lune” centered on evoking the night through the exploration of shadows, muted tones, and tactile softness.
Through playful and sensory experiences such as creating rainbows, experimenting with aurora borealis effects using ink, milk, and other materials, drawing on windows, painting on fabric, and creating color gradients from light to dark, the children were invited to manipulate light and matter in order to intuitively understand the cycles of day and night.
At the end of the workshops, a presentation and sharing session brought together children and adults alike for a convivial moment of exchange around early childhood artistic awareness, in the presence of parents and the educational teams of the city of Mougins.
This project was carried out as part of the national program “Entre les images” dedicated to transmission and photographic practice workshops, developed by the Diagonal network with financial support from the French Ministry of Culture / DRAC PACA.
