Based on a true story Collecif MYTO

“Based on a true story” offers a reinterpretation of this famous phrase, assuring viewers of the veracity of the content they are about to see. Accompanied by artist-affabulators Marie Hervé, Clémence Elman and Siouzie Albiach from the MYTO collective, participants from the Mouans-Sartoux Photo Club created a publication inspired by the form of the photo novel. To do so, they combined writing, directing, shooting and producing an editorial object.

Publisher and research bureau, the MYTO collective is a platform dedicated to contemporary charlatans. A self-proclaimed forger, MYTO aims to build new spaces for collective invention in the age of post-truths. MYTO is a space where any prima facie truth has to be looked at twice, and where any affabulator has to be taken seriously.
