Nomadic tools from Frac Sud

Mobile devices in the form of bags, boxes and suitcases, these nomadic tools are designed to circulate throughout the region, offering a sensitive approach to contemporary art. They can be borrowed by teachers and partner organizations. They offer an opportunity to discover a work, a theme, or to understand the approach of artists in the Frac’s collection in a fun, participatory way.

The “Autobiography according to Sophie Calle” Suitcase is available from the Mougins Center of Photography for use by some thirty pupils in a CM2 class at the École élémentaire des Cabrières (Mougins). By discovering Sophie Calle’s practice and comparing it with the work of other photographers, the pupils took on a contemporary autobiographical artistic approach. Breaking away from the duality of document and work, they seized on the photographic act to create, in small groups, formal works that reflect themselves and their daily lives.
The Centre de la photographie de Mougins hosted a training course delivered by Frac Sud for teachers from the Académie de Nice in November 2022.
