Eugénie Baccot, Rouvrir le monde – Un été culturel, 202
Eugénie Baccot was born in Monaco in 1984; she lives and works in Toulon. A freelance photographer for over ten years, Eugénie Baccot’s photographic approach is documentary-based. A laureate of the Centre européen de journalisme, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP), she received a grant for a collective work developed with photographer Cyril Abad. In 2022, her “Nsenene Paradise” series was awarded the Discovery Canon prize by the International Women In Photo Association.
Hosting organization: UNAT PACA / Cannes Jeunesse, Îles de Lérins
The project: Isolated and full of legends, the island is ideal territory for feeding the imagination. The children of Cannes Jeunesse, accompanied by photographer Eugénie Baccot during their stay on the Îles de Lérins, invent their own story. Whether the story is rooted in reality or totally fictitious, photographs can be used to illustrate it. Shooting, staging and selecting images are all part of the process of building a photographic story.
Participants at the Cannes Jeunesse reception center drew inspiration from the memory of the prisoner in the iron mask to create masks and photographs. During the creative photography sessions, Eugénie Baccot continued her personal metaphorical work on myths rooted in island territories.
Rouvrir le monde – Un été culturel, a DRAC PACA initiative.
