Born in Chile in 1966, André Mella Diaz lives and works between France and the South American continent. For about ten years, the photographer-visual artist has focused her work on the representation of terrestrial and marine habitats. This research has led to a documentary photographic prodcution that uses ‘primitive’ processes to evoke global change and complex phenomena caused by human intervention on the environment.

Host structure: Accueil de loisirs des Cabrières (Mougins)
The project: The pinhole camera is the first simple step in fixing the world before chemistry and its silver halide emulsions. Revealing images using sunlight allows for a return to the elementary laws of matter and time. Observing to personally and poetically transcribe the urban landscape; captivating through astonishment; discovering one’s urban geography and walking to find it – Andréa Mella Diaz’s project invites the children of the Mougins leisure center into the heart of fixed image creation.
