Andréa Mella Diaz, Opening up the world – A cultural summer, 2023
Born in Chile in 1966, André Mella Diaz lives and works between France and the South American continent. For the past ten years, the photographer/plastician has focused her work on the representation of terrestrial and marine habitats. This research has given rise to a body of documentary photography that uses “primitive” processes to evoke global change and the complex phenomena caused by man’s intervention in his environment.
Hosting structure: Accueil de loisirs des Cabrières (Mougins)
The project: The pinhole camera is the first stage in the simple fixation of the world before chemistry and its silver emulsions. Revealing images by sunlight takes us back to the elementary laws of matter and time. Observe to transcribe the urban landscape in a personal and poetic way; captivate through astonishment; discover its urban geography and walk to find it, Andréa Mella Diaz’s project invites the children of the Mougins leisure center to the heart of still image creation.
Rouvrir le monde – Un été culturel, a DRAC PACA initiative.
