Between December 2025 and January 2026, Charlotte Arthaud led a knowledge-sharing residency within the adolescent psychopathology department of the Antibes Hospital Center, as part of an initial collaboration. This experience continues her artistic approach, in which photography becomes a space for encounter and attention to others, a form of “care.” For the artist, “photography is a way of paying conscious attention to others.”
Within this care setting, Charlotte Arthaud adopts a slow and mindful approach, fully aware of the vulnerability of the adolescents attending the day hospital. Rejecting the sometimes intrusive or even violent stance of the photographer or observer, she explored cyanotype and wood transfer techniques together with the participants in order to create collectively. The gardens of Villa Thuret in Antibes, a shared site of experimentation, provided an environment conducive to trust, listening, and group-building. This project was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of Amandine Rousguisto de Backer (visual artist and art therapist at the Antibes Juan-les-Pins Hospital Center), the trust of the healthcare staff, and the generosity of the young participants.
